This energetic,
great looking and great sounding promo is the first single from
Abs, as he launches his solo career, after Five went their own ways
last September. Adrenalin @ Rushes were chosen to be part of this
visual masterpiece, directed by award winners, Max & Dania
Reggae classic
‘Uptown Top Rankin’ by Althea and Donna provides the
melody for his classy debut co-written with Biff Stannard (Five,
Spice Girls, Gabrielle). The offering from Richard ‘Abs’
Breen has already provoked raised eyebrows and a healthy dose of
pleasant surprise amongst the discerning industry types!
This compelling
promo opens with Abs and half a dozen babes, dressed in tiny khaki
outfits dancing on the roof of a building, with a fantastic skyline
behind. Vividly coloured and cartoon-like Victorian, Art Deco and
Post-modern buildings pulse to the baseline. Abs is continuously
accompanied by sexy girls and in one scene jumps into the cover
of a magazine, he sees on a news stall, joins the babe on the cover
in her beach buggy, and drives off into the sunset. It’s fast
action with fantastic visuals.
Says Rushes
Adrenalin Producer, Jonathan Davies: “A 2D/3D cityscape was
created by Duncan in Inferno by sampling city textures and styles
from London, New York and Miami. The cartoon-like ‘Abs-world’
was the setting for all 4 ‘locations’ in the video.
Building the city scenes entirely in the Inferno allowed every element
to be animated separately. And the technique of collaging real textures
with hand-drawn elements and cardboard models gave the video its
unique style. Dom created a midnight blue grade to sections of the
video to create a dramatic night-time look. Abs walks out of one
magazine cover and into another with the help of Matt in Fire. This
was a huge post job, which needed a lot of extra suite to help with
the effects shots. This was done by always having a 2nd suite running
alongside Duncan, creating mattes and putting together shots such
as the beach section and the newsagents which had magazines created
by Matt in Rocket. The outcome is a unique, cheeky video which is
perfect for the launch of Abs' solo career.”
