This new commercial for the Alfa Romeo 147 was
shot in a variety of Italian locations, in the futuristic press
box at Lords Cricket Ground and at the Saatchi Gallery in London.
A set of identical quadruplet sisters are grown
up and now living very different lives. The first is a party girl
who loves to lunch, the second is a high-powered business woman,
the third is an artist and the fourth is living for the moment and
enjoying the freedom of driving her new Alfa 147.
Even though the sisters are separated, the excitement
felt by the fourth sister, while driving the 147, is inexplicably
experienced by all of them. This leads to hysterical consequences,
as all three sisters are caught in compromising situations, such
as eating in a smart restaurant, an important presentation in a
board meeting and walking around a tranquil art gallery.
As the driver powers around spectacular coastal
roads, she experiences the exhilaration of outrunning a massive
tidal wave, which erupts over the road behind the car. Needless
to say, all three sisters who have also felt this surge of adrenaline
are by now lying on the floor, exhausted, much to the shock and
confusion of everyone present.
Graham Bird, Rushes Producer says, "This commercial
is a great idea that has been beautifully executed. We worked on
split grade composites for the car, the road and the background
which were then put together and sky replacement work was carried
out on a number of shots. Bill McNamara composited the wave explosion
shots which involved comping plates of the water explosions, shot
using water cannons and mortars on location, with plates of the
car action.
Matt Lawrence and Costas Charitou from Rocket,
Rushes’ new media department, composited supplied stills of
the girl at various ages to replicate family photo album stills
of quadruplets. These stills were then incorporated into the commercial
to help reinforce the quadruplets story line."
