Two years on from the release of Vulnicura, Björk is still producing visual gems to accompany tracks from the album, and supplying new variations on what has gone before. In the case of ‘notget’, Warren du Preez and Nick Thornton-Jones have already directed a VR experience for the song, but now here comes a more cinematic version.

In the stunning new video, Warren du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones help Björk mark her metamorphosis from grief to transcendence on Vulnicura's sixth track. The video, with its contrasting black-and-white and colourful halves, is like the song itself: an asphyxiation that mutates into a colourful and verdant breakthrough. The first half can be thought of as a moving portrait, which evolves into a performance piece in the second half.

"Björk definitely wanted more of a claustrophobic, confined environment, and to then be able to switch that up," Thornton Jones comments. "The switch to elation was very much driven by how she wants to see things."

Björk is beautifully costumed, as always, the core of "notget," surrounds two masks, created by James Merry, that symbolize the video's two halves.

The film premiered on The Creators Project, who spoke with directors Warren du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones about its creation. Read that interview and find out more here.
