Rankin shoots a stunning new spot for Nike as they introduce the Mercurial Superfly CR7 ‘Savage Beauty’, inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo’s volcanic homeland of Madeira. The superfly spot was posted at Rushes with VFX by Leo Weston, grade by Simona Cristea Harrison, with CG and Motion Graphics work from the Rushes teams.
Rankin shoots a stunning new spot for Nike as they introduce the Mercurial Superfly CR7 ‘Savage Beauty’, inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo’s volcanic homeland of Madeira. Known as one of the most popular athletes to grace the soccer field, Cristiano Ronaldo is being honoured by Nike with two special colorways of the Mercurial Superfly CR7 model.
This is the first instalment in a series which follows the footballers rise to fame. Each edition commemorates Ronaldo’s scoring skillset with inspiration from achievements within his decorated career. The Gold colorway honors his climb as the all-time leading scorer of his club with 324 goals, while the Quinhentos color scheme pays tribute to Ronaldo reaching an impressive 500 career goals.
VFX Artist Leo Weston enhanced Rankin’s complex layered offline, with input from the motion graphics team, the Rushes CG team produced volcanic smoke for the end sequence and Rushes Colourist Simona Cristea Harrison applied final grade emphasising the unique colour schemes of the Mercurial Superfly CR7. Simona says, “As always, another great project from Rankin. The colours of the film mirror the boots colours, with beautiful purple blues and orange magentas that I created by overlapping layers of colours resulting in a beautiful world of fluorescent lava.”
