BASF - Working for Water
Rushes were proud to work with Sweet Spot Content and M&C; Saatchi to be a part of the making of this campaign and support a beautiful initiative from BASF.
M&C; Saatchi Creative Director Simon Dicketts worked with South African based director Miles Goodsall from Sweet Spot Content to produce this emotive film which promote BASF‘s role in assisting local communities in the remote and often arid Maloti-Drakensberg Mountains in South Africa.
The Maloti-Drakensberg Mountains provide South Africa with 40% of its surface water. But this supply is seriously threatened by soil erosion caused by overgrazing. A few years ago, BASF Stiftung started a project with the United Nations Environment Programme, supported by BASF South Africa, to help local communities protect this water supply. They were able to ensure long term solutions to maintain water and control its quality, not simply by funding but by sharing expertise.
The beautifully scenic mountains form the backdrop to the film and in the final shot we see a river of people winding their way down them. The shot was filmed on a crane and multiple shots (non-motion controlled) were tracked and retimed to join the plates together by Rushes VFX artist Matt Jackson based on shoot supervision from Rushes Leo Weston. Jackson also enhanced skies, landscape and dungas in the landscape. The film was graded by Rushes colourist Simona Harrison.
