Rushes’ Motion GFX Department has benefited from a revamp of its suite, hardware and software to increase the range of workflows available to this award-winning creative department. This substantial investment brings Motion GFX in line with the rest of Rushes’ VFX suites as it’s now able to work in multiple resolutions and aspects including 2K and HD and offer patchable workstations to give clients ultimate flexibility when it comes to planning their workflow.
The creative team, lead by Senior Designer Matt Lawrence, operate from a GFX suite now fully equipped with new top end 8 Core Intel Macs on every workstation, running Adobe's CS3 creative suite software allowing us more speed and creative power. The team utilise a range of software tools including After Effects and Cinema 4D.
Added Muscle
This added muscle has already proven invaluable on GFX’s first job after the upgrade for Pfizer's Anti-Smoking campaign as Matt Lawrence, Head of Motion GFX explains ...
"Plunge Creatives and Motion GFX developed the concept of creating an environment for their commercial completely out of digital SLR stills with live action footage ‘hero characters’ within this world. A total of 112 renders were produced over a two-day period, something we just couldn't have done in the past in the available time. So understandably we are all rather pleased with our new toys,” said Lawrence.
Award-Winning Team
The MGFX team continue to go from strength to strength and earlier this year were delighted to announce their Gold World Medal win at the New York Festivals Innovative Advertising Awards. The Awards Gala held in April saw the team scoop top prize in the ‘Best Place-Based Media’ category.
The team collaborated with Creative Director Andrew Smith of A-Vision on the breakthrough use of the digital escalator panels, currently being deployed throughout the London underground network. The iconic Sony Bravia bouncing balls move between the screens in slow progression followed by a torrent of balls, mirroring the original television campaign.
This site specific advertising through CBS Outdoor featured on the escalator screens at Tottenham Court Road Underground station in London.
Sci-Fi and Cinema 4D
The MGFX team has also produced a trailer designed to showcase its talents, inspired by a love of retro Sci-Fi and the classic B-Movie genre of the Fifties.
“What started out as primarily a learning exercise in Cinema 4D has evolved into this fun short,” added Lawrence. “This piece was very much a turning point in our approach to the use of 3D in MGFX's work.”
