Golden Drum Advertising Festival 2007
26th Oct 2007: Rushes' Managing Director Joce Capper is back from Slovenia where she was a guest pannellist at the Golden Drum Advertising Festival.
The 14th Annual Golden Drum Advertising Festival was held in Portoroz, Slovenia from 14th – 19th October 2007. This year saw the introduction of the 'Corbis Photography Award' which aims to celebrate the best photography in professional advertising.
Rushes Managing Director, Joce Capper, attending the festival for the first time, was invited as a guest panellist at a new event presented by the APA and the Commercial Film Producers of Europe. The panel event was a ‘New Europe’ version of The Young Director Award and The World Producers Summit which are held annually at the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival and are attended by over 900 people.
The Young Director Award is the ultimate competition for the very new directors of commercials and in 2008 will celebrate its 10th anniversary. For more information about the competition and to view the 2007 winners visit: www.yda2007.com. The Young Directors Award is organised by the Commercial Film Producers of Europe - www.cfp-e.com - in association with Shots magazine - www.shots.net.
The World Producers Summit, which is organised with the CFPE (Commercial and Film Producers in Europe) and the AICP, with the support of Kodak, saw 100 production company owners and producers from 27 countries gather to discuss the future of the industry and to share intelligence on the threats and opportunities in production worldwide. The format of the event is that each table of ten discusses issues identified in advance over lunch and then summarises its findings in a whole room discussion.
The aim was to replicate this in Slovenia, to have an open floor discussion for all delegates and countries to share local knowledge and learn from each other.
Joce comments …
“Golden Drum is a truly great festival. Now in its 14th year, with participants from many countries, it is a great opportunity for people for many different markets, both emerging and established to meet and discuss work, creativity and how we can all work together to learn from each other.
I had a great time at Golden Drum … how could I not? Slovenia is beautiful, Portoroz truly lovely. The main reason I loved this festival? It feels fresh and energetic and people are genuinely excited about producing great work. And at the end of the day that’s what it is all about ... great advertising across all formats.
If I have the opportunity to go again, I most certainly will. I hope that Rushes can be involved in some way in the future and that we all continue to learn from each other.”
