Clarks latest
commercial is great fun and also an arresting and highly stylised
candy coloured production. It opens with loud upbeat music and it
is a bright day in London. People, dressed in vibrant clothes, are
going about their normal life.
Crowds of
people are seen crossing a zebra crossing. Mid cross, the crowds
part. From the back, out struts a young woman who ‘catwalks’
her way between the separated crowd, finally coming to a stand still,
where we see a close up of her shoes. Everyone then continues on.
A similar
scenario happens like this with a waiter and his customer, when
they suddenly sashay across the pavement, before a double shoe close
up! Meanwhile a pregnant woman skips in between four burly businessmen,
before showing us her jazzy sandals.
Rushes, dedicated
Telecine Producer, Vittorio Giannini adds: “After meeting
with the director and the agency, it was decided that after a couple
of tests a print would be made from the negative for Adrian Seery
to grade and xfer in Creality. Matt Jackson worked in Inferno to
replace crowds (increase the number of people) by compositing separate
plates, some of which were bluescreen and some had to be rotoscoped.
Since this is Clarks summer campaign, the skies were replaced and
glints and flares were added to really enhance the feeling of a
sunny day in London. Along with some beauty work on the models and
the product shots, there was extensive work on tidying up the road
surfaces; from patches of rain to chalk lines used to choreograph
the crowds. Although there was extensive post production work in
this commercial the result is a seamless beautifully crafted live
action commercial.” |
