Rushes recently completed the post work on this energetic, seventies-style
promo which accompanies the addictive new single ‘Assasinator
13’ from Bristol-based band Chikinki.
The promo is
set in an archetypal seventies living room, complete with canary
yellow curtains, teak sideboard and the once ubiquitous Tretchikoff
‘Chinese Girl’ print on the walls. The opening shots
focus on Ed, the band’s guitarist, as he strums to the rhythmic
beat of the track. As he does so, his t-shirts magically change.
One by one each of the band members are introduced - Rupert on vocals,
Boris on the synthesizer, Steve on drums and Trevor on keyboards.
In time to the pulsating music their clothes and the fixtures and
fittings in the room alternate. One moment they are fully clothed
sitting on a leatherette sofa and the next minute they stand nakedly
beside a kidney-shaped side table. The action moves to a clearing
in a forest, where Trevor is playing the keyboards. He is joined
by a group of people, who dance frantically before falling to the
ground, apparently dead. Back in the living room the lights change,
a skeleton sitting in a chair starts to speak, and the Chinese girl
on the wall winks. It is not long before the band are playing before
a desert mural, complete with cacti and setting sun. Once again
they are joined by a gaggle of dancers, who are soon dead on the
floor. This promo is fun, original and quirky and a perfect compliment
to the upbeat music.
Adrenalin Producer
Jonathan Davies adds: “Dougal Wilson has created yet another
brilliant music video. The different takes of performance match
perfectly and the attention to detail is superb. The overall effect
is hypnotic and surely one of the best videos of 2003 so far.”
