This sexy, cheeky Hispanic commercial illustrates Aardman’s
clay animation at its best.
A shiny red
male car heads up a carnival procession accompanied by an appealing
lime green female car. They flirt their way up the street, headlamps
serving as their eyes and grills as their mouths. There is exquisite
attention to detail in the rest of the parade with women in fantastical
butterfly costumes, waving crowds and a child whizzing in between
the madness on his scooter.
Says Abbie
Ross, Aardman Producer: "This was a bit of an epic for a Chevron
commercial. Gone are the days of the locked off shot with a car
talking to camera. We made 50 models for the crowd, 5 cars and threw
in a few cats and dogs for good measure. The animators didn't know
what had hit them!"
Says Claire
Pollock, Rushes Inferno Artist: "The post-production work included:
de-rigging the model cars and cleaning up and repairing the road
surface where grooves had been cut to accommodate the rigs. We also
layered various background passes e.g. the road, buildings and bunting.
We then comped the blue-screen model cars and added in their shadows.
The final piece of post involved warping the red car to make it
appear bouncier." |
